Mid-Life Reflections

Dr. Dobson’s most powerful messages have been right from his heart, and the two-day series about his mid-life reflections are some of his most memorable comments.
In listening once again to the content in this 1985 speech, I am touched deeply by his admonition to make these years count. With younger kids still in the home, now is the time to make memories. Now is the time to invest in their development (spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual). Now is the time to be the father our children need. All too soon they will leave the home.
In a few weeks my oldest heads off for college. This is a good thing, and it is a natural part of life. We’ve tried to raise godly kids who will make a mark on the world through their character and actions. We pray and are confident he will do well.
Hard to believe he was just three years old when we moved to Colorado so I could work with Focus on the Family. Goodness, that was a fast 16 years!
If you have little ones that are draining you, don’t forget: time is moving fast, and they will all-too-soon be leaving. This is a season, and it will one day change to the next season of life. For now, savor the moment!
