In response to our broadcast series, many folks asked for more information. Here are some links you’ll want to check out:

The Home Schooling Father: How You Can Play A Decisive Role In Your Child’s Success, written by our guest, Michael Farris.
An excellent overview of homeschooling by Chris Jeub (a very involved homeschooling dad).
Home School Legal Defense Association - the organization founded by Michale Farris.
There are also many support groups at the local level.
Another good idea: talk with someone you know who is already homeschooling. Ask questions. Expect candid answers.
And pray about this. It is not an easy responsibility. If God so leads, though, you will find it to be worth the effort and commitment!

The first book that we read, and constantly recommend to others is “The Well Trained Mind” by Jesse Wise and Susan Wise Bauer.
It really helped us to understand just how powerful a good education could be.
My husband and I have homeschooled for over 3 years now. When we began I did not feel like I “had what it took” to do the instruction myself for our two children. I am a teachers aid, not a teacher. This led us to look for alternatives within the homeschooling options. We came across a DVD program that is Christian based. We have found this to fit our needs as a family to homeschool while at the same time ensuring that they receive a quality education.
Since we began homeschooling, we have come across several people that felt the same way we did, teachers aids not teachers, and have always pointed them in the direction that Lord pointed us. I enjoyed your program but thought you might like know that there is a whole segment of listeners that want to home school but don’t think they would be a good teacher and fear that their children would not get a quality education if they, the parents, taught them. For those that feel that way there are alternatives. We use Bob Jones University to get what we need. Check it out and see if this is something you might want to pass on to your listeners. Thankyou for all you do for the Christian family. May God continue to bless the work that you are doing for His kingdom
