Our hearts are grieving with Steven and Mary Beth Chapman and their family as they mourn the unexpected loss of their youngest daughter, Maria. This wonderful artist has been beloved for many years. His devotion to his family and children - and his passion for God’s work in the lives of orphans - have encouraged and influenced millions around the world.

We pray that God will bring peace, that He will comfort and sustain them in this exceptionally difficult time, and that His presence will be tangible to the entire family.
You’ll find prayer points and links for expressing your condolences at Steven’s official website.

Dear Chapman family, and fellow believers,

This is a test, of what we believe about our heavenly Father. Remember Job. Read the book, and live the lesson. Each day is a gift, and so is everything He has given us, including the wonder of children. Make the most of, and cherish the moments in your relationships.

-Father YHWH (Y’HaVaH), please wrap your mercy, strength, and wisdom around the Chapman family, especially their young son.-

It is indeed a sad, mournful, and painful time, but may God be praised, for one day He will bring plentiful glory to the faithful remnant. Keep shining the light….even when you cry.

We know that His word is true and therefore live our lives faithfully by believing Roman 8:28 and holding onto Psalm 116:15. Prayers for your family have been lifted up to His throne of grace and we will continue to do so with the hope and expectation that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be glorified through this. (Romans 12:12)

We pray he will comfort you and show you in some small ways “beauty for ashes”. I grew up in Western Ky and have always appreciated your ministry and your family. We are praying for you.

My heart aches for your family in these days of shock and grief. I am especially praying for your son. As a mom who has lost a child, I know how deep the pain can be, yet I can witness that God was with me every moment. I learned so much about Him in the months, even years that followed.
You’ve blessed so many with your music, and inspired so many with your adaption story. A great crowd of believers are praying for you each day.

    Dear Steve & Family,

“Be Still and Know that HE IS GOD” is one of my favorite song of your songs. I know that God was there at the time, and still there. He will never give you anything that you and your family can’t bear. As a mother of a todler and an infant, I know what you are going through. I can imagine your pain. My heart goes out for you and your family. Again, Be Still and Know that HE IS GOD. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
