I was interested in Dr. Leman’s comments because I am a middle child (4 in the family, but the last child born when I was 15), but his charistics related to first children describe me more than the second child ones do. Also, I am married to a second child who also demonstrates many of the first child traits he describes. My husband is from a family of seven, with loving parents. My father was physically abusive and non-available for the most part. My mother was in total control of the children in the family, and while not abusive, she was very approving of both my older and younger brothers, very critical of me. I think family dynamic may have nearly as much to do with personality as does birth order.

I know it is hard to accept a compliment (a first born trait I’d say) but Dr. Leman was correct; it was very nice to put a face to the voice I listen to everyday! You look too young to have a college kid!
God Bless you and your family
