Today Dr. Dobson announced his resignation as Chairman of the Focus on the Family Board of Directors. He has been elected to the role of “Founder and Chairman Emeritus” and his wife, Shirley Dobson will continue on as “Director Emerita.”

While no longer engaged at this level of leadership for the ministry he founded, Dr. Dobson will continue to speak to millions worldwide through the daily Focus on the Family radio broadcast.

I believe Dr. Dobson has done more for the American family than anyone in the country. Thank God for this ministry and for his faithfulness to the principals in the scripture. May God Bless him and his wife during these days.

Hopefully, Mr. Dobson will give up the leadership post to someone who can articulate the policies that it takes to win!!!

Dr. Dobson has been a mentor to me in his speaking and writing ministry for many years. I have been helped immeasurably by this wise godly man and have often quoted him and shared his wise counsel with many people. I am thankful he and his wife will continue to be active and that he will be a strong voice for morality and the family in our country. I know he has paid a high price for his service and witness and I thank him for his sacrifice.

I will forever be in debt to Dr. Dobson for his dedication to this ministry and to the family. My husband and I raised our children watching Dr. Dobson’s videos in the 1980′s and he has guided me in many situations with his radio ministry.

Thank you Dr. and Mrs. Dobson for your sacrifice to the families you have touched around the world. I am thankful for all you have done and will continue to do.

    Blessings to you,

Dr Dobson’s father, an evangelist, prayed one hour for his son every day, and the Lord indeed answered those prayers. Lord, we are so thankful for Dr James Dobson and Focus on the Family!

Hello, I was shocked to hear of Dr. Dobson stepping down as Board Chairman. I’m still single and have to admit I don’t follow FOF as close as I should but close enough to know how indepted the United States as well as the rest of the world is to his Christian leadership, Integrity, and Godly character. Will still be looking forward to his radio broad casts.

Dr. Dobson has been a great leader for the families and churches of America. I pray that God will raise up other leaders just as committed and true as he has been. God bless you Dr. Dobson and thank you for giving my family a voice.

While I am sorry to see DR. Dobson step down as Chairman of the Board, I understand that that day would inevitably come. I stayed away from Christian radio for decades because I assumed it would be redundant and boring. “Focus” broadcasts were among the first to prove me wrong. I listen to Christian radio daily and have always appreciated the truth and insight Focus has always shared. I used to hear Focus 3 times a day on WRBS in Baltimore when I worked the afternoon shift and regretted when some of the braodcasts were cut due to cost, I presume. When I changed to day shift I missed the broadcasts often because my evening schedule didn’t often present the opportunity to hear the broadcast. I was delighted to find Focus on WRBS at 5:30 AM when I started a new job. I listen every morning on the way to work, and often hear the weekend summary. I know Focus will continue to inspire and inform me and wish Dr. Dobson all the best in his future endeavors. Thank you Dr. Dobson for all you have meant to me and my family. Terry

I am deeply grateful for the Focus on the Family radio broadcast. I have been listening for a very long time. This broadcast has helped me raise my children, deal with tragedy, love my husband, and manage my finances. That is just a few of many topics that were so powerful to me. Dr. Dobson you have been a man of integrity and honor. Thank-you for your obedience in following what God asked you to do. Your ministry has been very fruitful which tells me it is a good tree. May God bless you super abundantly as you enter the next season of you life.

Thank you, Dr Dobson, for your foresight in planning for a smooth transition of leadership. With the passing of years – and I’ve listened from the very beginning – I have seen the maturing of this ministry from one that ‘Focus’es entirely on the events of family life, to one that also sees and addresses the broader cultural, legal, and world view forces which shape that family life. Focus has now achieved world wide influence to the benefit of families to the glory of Christ. Thank you Dr. Dobson, for caring more about the faithful continuance of this God ordained mission than you care about personal recognition or satisfaction.

Thanks for the many kind comments about Dr. Dobson. I’ll share these with him – and know he will be encouraged by the good words! He looks forward to future on-air “conversations” – he is back in studio Thursday.

As Dr. Dobson has articulated many times, Focus on the Family is not a monument to one man’s accomplishments, nor has he desired to see his name on the outside of your buldings. The reason Focus has survived is because Dr. Dobson was never in the driver’s seat but simply a passenger in a car driven by our Lord. May this same attitude and understanding of God’s will for Focus continue forever.

first time i listened to FOF broadcast in February 2008, i was looking for my English learning (I am Indonesian live in Cimahi, it is a small town), I was desperately because i didn’t find what i wish for.

I grasped a book, it was your book, and written down Dr James Dobson name’s on search… finally i was entering in Focus on the Family, listening your broadcast almost every day… till now. You make me laugh, cry, challenging me with something, do and think about the words of our God, Jesus Christ. It’s like discovering a new world, love it so much.

I cant believe, I cannot get away from your podcast. I downloaded and listened to wherever I go. You are changing a lot persons out there more than you ever think about, glory to Jesus Christ.

This morning I have problem again with “forgiveness memory”, and I looked for my mp3 cd ( my downloaded mp3 files). just wanna to listened to Dr Dobson – Fuller discussion with RT Kandell. Shrinking the files fit into my 51mega player mp3, then.. my mind recharge again !! Hallelujah.

I wish we can see each others, Dr. James Dobson and John Fuller, and express how great I am bless by your work to our Lord. May our Lord Jesus Christ, bless your work, your health, your family and people around you.

    Love,
    Sanny from Cimahi – Indonesia

I want to thank Dr. Dobson for the past 32 years of living before us by displaying a Godly example for young and old to follow. I married 32 years ago and thank God for his dedication to family values because we were instructed and helped in the raising of our family. FOF has been a beacon of light for us and multitudes of Christian families even back then when there were very few Christian radio programs. I thank God for Dr. Dobson and the great work he has given his life to. I believe he is a man of God with deep convictions and was continually led by God in the decisions he made personally in his Christian walk as well as the direction he led FOF. It will be a tremendous loss to FOF and to young families by not having Dr. Dobson there. Every man has his allotted time to serve and obviously FOF feels his time has been completed there. I look with great anticipation for the future plans that God has for the Dobsons and will definitely be praying for them in this transition.
God’s blessings on FOF and the Dobsons ~~ Donna

I look forward every day to leaving for work at 7:00 a.m. so I can listen to Focus on the Family.
When I heard the announcement that Dr. Dobson was retiring, I felt like crying. Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family have been such a vital part of my life since the 70s. There is no one I admire more and no other ministry that I feel more strongly about outside the local church. This ministry under his leadership has encouraged me, comforted me, challenged me, and blessed me time and time again. I realize that Focus will continue with the same quality of leadership and passion to minister to families, but I will miss so much hearing Dr. Dobson’s voice every morning.
Thank you for being out there in our culture on the front lines leading us in the fight for families. And God bless Dr. Dobson and his family for their steadfastness under fire through the years. We pray for him and for Focus that many years lay ahead in successful ministry.

I thank God for Dr. Dobson. He helped me raise my daughters and be a good wife to my husband with his wonderful advice based on the Bible. Dr. Dobson helped me to write a letter to my absent Father asking for forgiveness eventhough things were not my fault, but this letter helped heal my relationship with my Dad and we are close now. Mom went to be with the Lord in 2000 but she knew we had made amends which pleased her. Dr. Dobson, in heaven you will know about the many, many people you have helped and the Lord Jesus Christ will reward you as such a faithful servant. May God bless you and your beautiful wife and family abundantly to overflowing. Again Thank You. Muchas Gracias.
