Thursday Poll: Do You Have Kids At Home?

Did you see the recent report about a decline in the number of homes with younger children?

The percentage of American households with children under 18 living at home last year hit the lowest point — 46% — in half a century, government data reported Wednesday.

There could be a lot of explanations for the trend, but some researchers suggest it is a result of the aging of the Baby Boom generation and younger women having fewer children.

Personally, we still have five children at home, from age 5 to 17. How about you? I’ll be in the minority for another 15 years or so, it would seem!

If you have children at home under 18, what are their ages? Multiple answers are allowed!

I am 28 and lied on the poll. Currently we have no children, but in a month we will be having our first child. As a 28 year old, I can testify that culture is perpetuating a lie that children need to be less of a priority and that is better to wait until all of your duck are in a row and you’ve had the european vacation to start trying to get pregnant. Even in Christian culture it appears that many have lost the Biblical view of the blessing of kids.

The poll doesn’t allow for someone to enter more than one child in a category. I’ve got two children in high school. 17, 14, 11, 6 (youngest is special needs and not in school yet).

Sorry about that, Mark. Limitations of the poll feature in WordPress. I’m in the same boat – but since this isn’t scientific, just tag the categories. We’ll understand!
