To end a few disputes in here...

The Bible says obey the law of the land.

1. It is the law to own a firearm 2nd ammendment.
2. It is the law and right to protect yourself and your famiy. (even if it means deadly force)

its the law and im abiding to it. I love my family!

Another point...God killed more people than he did save them in the entire Bible!

Scott: I would not disobey the law and take your concealed weapon into church. Obviously, it's direct disobedience to the authority that God has placed over you. I definitely would start a campaign to change that law!

This is a great time to start working to change that law. It's obvious that the dynamics of the country are changing...more people are scared of our government (and rightly so) so they are taking more of an interest in politics and what they feel is right and wrong.

I agree with Jo. God gave us brains and I don't think He is against us defending our lives and the lives of others. But let me ask a question and hopefully someone can help me with my problem. I have a concealed weapons liscense but in my state I am not allowed to take a concealed into places of worship. I have always taken great care to make sure I am within the law. Would you take it anyway?

I disagree with you Allen, in part, because it is not an accurate question to ask (WWJD?). If it is referring to how one should behave in the world on an everyday basis, then that question can be used as a general focus point. While I am not comfortable around guns, I see no problems, spiritually about protecting oneself if given no other recourse. Remember, Jesus trashed the temple courts because the people were using the temple as a place of commerce. Follow this with the Jesus in revelation who commands forces at the time of judgment. Jesus is violent when the time is appropriate and just.

Finally, as regard to your question itself as a tool to determine what is right let me state this: I don't believe Jesus would play football, watch television, or eat bbq pork, but that doesn't mean that it is wrong for us to do so. Romans 12:8 "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone." If a man with a gun comes into my church and begins shooting at people, I pray that someone will stop him with whatever means necessary to keep them from taking the life of my son who is studying to be a Christian and is not one yet, even if it means killing him in self-defense. Go ahead and take me, but please let the one who still are in search of salvation live until they find the Lord!

WWJD? I don't believe that Jesus would bring a gun to church. I don't think he would own a gun. He told us to love our enemies not kill them. Maybe if we reflected Christ love more and not reflected the pharisees we wouldn't need to have this conversation.

I live in florida and have a concealed handgun license. Before saying anything I urge anyone who is carrying a handgun to get a license first! It is a third degree felony even if you have one on you and dont use it!

I am a pastor and I agree entirely that Handguns are a good thing. So many Christians believe in spiritual good and evil but they are naive to natural good and evil. Christians can at times believe so much in the spiritual that they lose their balance in the natural.

I mean david used a sling and he was a man of God!

The word says obey the law of the land so I will carry my handgun with my license and keep my 2nd ammendment right and protect my loved ones if need be.

There is so much to say on this topic I could go on and on...but I'd someone who is anti-gun, what would you do if someone stole your family from you by an act of violence? God is a God of life and a God of family and togetherness...its the enemy who comes to steal, "kill" and destroy and he uses everyday people like the shooting in illinois where a guy came in and shot that pastor dead.

Use wisdom and think about this...

I wholeheartedly agree with Jo. My husband packs a gun for the same reasons. Responsible gun ownership and use can save lives.

My husband and children and I go to a rather large church. We feel it wise to be proactive with all the shootings at churches. It's no secret that hostility is brewing against Christians and churches; especially those that are taking a firm stand for Christ, such as our church.

Because of the general area of the country I reside in, I always have my fire arm discreetly, and securely on myself when I am out and about...including church. While I believe God is all powerful, and absolutely 100% in control, He also gave us brains.

It is my conviction to be able to protect myself and children the best I can, and sadly that could have to be in church.

Guns are tools. It is how they are used, and how they are portrayed that has given them so much negativity. If we did not obey the laws of traffic, our vehicles would be much more dangerous.

A gun is perfectly safe, unless it's in the wrong hands.
