Maybe you have children in their 20s? Or you work with someone in that “Generation Y” demographic? Here’s a thoughtful, engaging conversation about how to reach Gen Y – what they value, how they relate to the messenger AND the message. Takes about 20 minutes, and the interview begins around the 3:20 mark. The stats alone make it worth your while, although there’s much more here.

My husband and I have talked about the lack of the Millenial generation in our church. I think that the church may be a stumbling block for this generation, sad as that may be. The church we attend has changed pastors several times over the past few years, under very critical circumstances, and as the speaker in this video points out, the Millenials don’t want that type of atmosphere. Yet as we look at the other churches within doable distance to us, they are no different than ours, and that is why we stay. It has literally brought me to tears to know that I don’t know how to reach these young people in our area. How can we as a church (speaking universally) reach these young people who ache so much for someone to come alongside of them, yet we can’t let God control the churches that might be His hands and feet?
