Second Best So Far: Fireproof

The film, Fireproof, debuted Friday and it earned enough to rank fourth for the weekend. For movies opening on fewer-than-usual screens, it is the second-best grossing film of the year — and you might be surprised by what it follows: a Miley Cyrus concert film.

Kudos to the folks who produced Fireproof! More to listen and see here.

Fireproof In Theaters Friday

Dr. Dobson and I really enjoyed our conversation with the producers of the new film, “Fireproof.” They had some fantastic stories about the production of this new movie, which is about a broken marriage that was restored. They also shared a wonderfully “God-sized” vision for the impact they desire to see from this motion picture!

Here’s one comment we received about how this broadcast touched a life (as relayed to us by our phone department folks):

He’s never really had anything to do with God, but his wife called him yesterday and asked him to listen to our broadcast. As a result, he is not only looking at God in a different way but also determined to make his marriage work at all costs. He said that was the biggest stumbling block in his life and now he has hope.

May God bring a message of hope like this one to millions through the film! We trust you’ll see it in theaters this weekend. After you do, come back here and tell me what you thought!

Does God Play A Part In Your Love Story?

Eric and Leslie Ludy, wrote the insightful book: “When God Writes Your Love Story.”  A great encouragement, especially for the young adult who’s a bit disappointed with dating scene.  You may want to point them here to read the Ludy’s first chapter entitled: “When God Doesn’t Give You a Mate.”  It’s sure to give them–and you–something to discuss and to think about.  A little something extra: download Eric and Leslie’s song, “Faithfully.”

The Chapmans Tell Their Story

maria-face-shot.jpgSteven and Mary Beth Chapman are sharing their story in the national media this week. They were on Good Morning America yesterday and are scheduled to join Larry King tonight. Next week a People Magazine issue featuring an interview with the Chapmans will be on newsstands.

Pray God’s continued mercy and grace for this dear family, and join me in asking that the Lord will use their story of tragedy and God’s comfort to touch thousands who do not yet know the Savior (2 Corinthians 1).

Additionally, Steven has penned a new verse to the song, “Yours,”  with 100% of the artist’s royalties being donated to Shaohannah’s Hope, the non-profit organization founded by the Chapman family whose goal is to help families reduce the financial barrier to adoption. According to a press release, “Yours” producer Matt Brownlewee and the song’s co-writer Jonas Myrin are also contributing their royalties to Shaohannah’s Hope;  Sparrow Records will donate any monies received from the sales of the single, after deduction of expenses and royalties, to the effort.

Show your support for the Chapman family, remember Maria and help the adoption cause. Here’s one link to the new version of “Yours.”

UPDATE: Here’s a video clip about some artwork from Maria…which has been a source of comfort for her family.

Brandon’s India Influence

As we enjoyed one of those Starbucks “to go jugs” of a nice African blend during Gospel Music Week, Brandon Heath and I talked a little about his heart for people around the world. One of the influences in this regard was a trip he took to India. What he saw, heard, smelled and experienced there changed him. Here’s what he had to say:

After listening to these comments, listen to his song, Give Me Your Eyes.  Good stuff!

Chatting With Brandon Heath

In April I was in Nashville for Gospel Music Week, and had the privilege of talking with Brandon Heath, who has had some great response to his new single. It was a really enjoyable conversation with a fellow who displays some admirable depth of heart and soul. I’ll post more of his comments here in the coming days.

BTW, I only had one microphone, so won’t be able to show you a true Q&A format here. Just his responses to some questions I asked. Up first, some thoughts from Brandon about his songwriting and storytelling - I asked what he hoped to accomplish through his music?
